the breed to the Miscellaneous Class effective January 1, 2013

Associated Breeds to Hold Herding Event
The Board VOTED to approve a Staff recommendation to allow specialty clubs to hold Herding
events that are open to their breed as well as “associated breeds” on a special request basis.
Associated breeds for this purpose would be those breeds with a common heritage. The special
request must be approved by the Performance Events Department. Effective date: April 1, 2012

Lifetime Agility Title
Mr. Curtis reported that without objection, the new Lifetime Achievement title (July 1, 2012
implementation date) would be applied retroactively to dogs earning the title requirements after
January 1, 1999, and prior to July 1, 2012. A fee of ten-dollars ($10.00) will be charged for
owners that want an actual grandfathered title certificate to be printed and sent to them. Dogs
earning the title after implementation will have the title certificate print automatically similar to
other agility titles. There was no objection.

Agility in 2011

AKC is a  month behind in Agility results, so some little things will still change. 2011 was a good year. Briards was competitive as never before. Nona's Puccini retired from regular Agility to almost making the PACH in eleven months trailing, and yes in January 2011 Puccini had to start in Novice.

Nona's Tosca made MACH2 and is well on the way to have MACH3 sometimes in 2012. Also impressive Tosca made 1819 MACH points and 22 double Q's  in 2011 alone !

David's Vie is the first TC (triple Champion) Briard, Vie is a conformation Champion, Herding Champion and made the MACH this fall.

Tosca, Vie and Puccini are all also qualified for the National Championship 2013 in Reno NV

in 2011 13 Briards was competing in the highest regular class, additional two Briards was also running in the highest preferred class. Never before in AKC Agility did 15 Briards compete in one year at the highest level.

Tosca and Morgan's Argos also had some runs where they would have been fast enough to qualify for world tryouts, so maybe soon we see a Briard trying to get qualified.
